With more lenders wishing to ensure that their borrowers qualified for a loan that was being offered, mortgage fraud became more prevalent. This fraud was committed without the knowledge of the borrower, with the lender manufacturing documents or using otherwise fraudulent information in order to qualify an individual or business for the loan. At Gogel & Gogel, we have handled numerous mortgage fraud cases on behalf of the borrowers.
For over 20 years, we have been standing up for the rights of debtors and borrowers who have found themselves in difficult financial situations. Mortgage fraud, which may or may not be noticed for an extended period of time, may leave the borrower facing bankruptcy and the loss of their home or business. We strive to help clients understand how mortgage fraud may have affected them and how we may attempt to resolve the situation.
Examples of Mortgage Fraud
There are two main types of mortgage fraud that are seen more frequently than others.
- A mortgage company created documents using false information in order to qualify someone for a loan. This can include creating a fake job made up by a broker or falsifying the amount of money a business may consider profit in order to qualify.
- A good faith estimate provided to the borrower was accepted, but then at closing, the documents were produced using a different interest rate or other information that had not been included on the good faith estimate. This can be considered the "flip-flopping" of loans.
Even if they committed fraud, a mortgage company or other lender is still going to come after you, the borrower, for the amount of money that is owed. Our firm is dedicated to seeking out the source of the mortgage fraud in order to help you regain control of your finances.
